Mukesh Ambani becomes world’s 5th richest person with a net worth $75 billion
India’s business tycoon Mukesh Ambani finds his position the global rich list very fast, and is now the fifth-richest in the world, climbing two ranks from barely a couple of weeks ago.
Mukesh Ambani had a net worth of 69.9 billion on July 12 and become the world’s seventh-richest and surpassed Warren Buffet, according to the Forbes Real-Time Billionaires List. Now he climbs the fifth position with $75.1 billion net worth.
Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos topped the richest table in the Forbes’ real-time billionaires’ list, with a net worth of $185.8 billion. He is followed by Bill Gates, Microsoft co-founder with a net worth of $113.1 billion and Bernard Arnault, luxury group LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton’s chief with a net worth of $112 billion. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg claims the fourth position, and Mukesh Ambani is at fifth position. The Indian billionaire is now above of Elon Musk, Larry Ellison, and Warren Buffett.
He is also the only Asian in the richest list of the top 10 richest people in the world. While eight of them are from the United States, Bernard Arnault & Family is from France.
In US dollar terms, Forbes estimated that Mukesh Ambani has a net worth of $75.1 billion. Fully paid shares of Reliance Industries Limited ended at Rs 2,004 a share, up 1.64 per cent, while partly paid shares ended at Rs 1,107 on Wednesday. The market value of fully paid shares stands at Rs 12.7 trillion and that of partly paid shares is Rs 46,765, giving it a total m-cap of Rs 13.17 trillion. Reliance Industries Limited crossed the Rs 12-trillion m-cap mark this month itself.
The share price of RIL has risen by 120 per cent over the last four months for Rs 883 per share on March 23, 2020, to Rs 1,939 on Monday. Since April 22, when Facebook Inc announced an investment of Rs 43,574 crore in Jio Platforms for 9.99 per cent equity stake, Jio Platforms has announced investments by 12 other investors. The total investment by these 13 investors over the last 12-weeks amounted to Rs 118,318 crore.
